The permanent removal of unwanted hair from the body.
Electrolysis has been around for over 130 years. It has a proven track record for its permanence and safety.
The process of electrolysis
A skilled and trained Electrologist can permanently remove unwanted hair with a process called electrolysis. Electrolysis is a process by which a low-level electrical current is sent down a very fine sterilized probe and inserted into the hair follicle. The heat generated by the current destroys the papilla and loosens the hair for easy removal, leaving the skin smooth, clear and intact.
Reappearing Hair
Hairs that seemingly reappear in the same place previously treated by and electrologist are actually appearing in different hair follicles.
Electrolysis treatement does not cure the causes of excess hair growth. It eliminiates the effects of the various causes. The two most common causes are heredity and the aging process. Glandular disturbances, pregnancy, stress, certain drugs, obesity and even anorexia nervosea are some of the causes of excess hair growth. They all stimulate the hormone necessary to grow excess hair.
The electrolgist can only remove hair that is visible. Each square inch of the skin contains several hundred hair follicles. Only a certain amount of these follicles are actively growing hair. The inactive follicles could grow hair at any time depending on the particular hair cycle and causes of the excess hair for that particular client. If these new hairs do grow, they are not necessarily the same hair follicles previously treated, but may appear to be to the naked eye.
Fortunately, each area of the body has a finite number of hair folicles and once most or all of the active hair follicles are successfuly treated, the excess hair problem in the particular area is elimiminated. Depending on each individual case, once an area is successfully treated, it may be necessary to receive short treatments at infrequent intervals. This would be needed for a clearn up of new hairs that my have grown from previously dormant follicles.
